In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is the end of the world, when the great wolf Fenrir (or Fenris) escapes bondage, kills Odin and swallows the sun.
Fenrir was the evil lupine son of the trickster god Loki. He was three times bound by the Gods, but only twice broke free. His last chain is a silk ribbon, which he will break on the day of Ragnarok.
The spear he is holding is the Spear of Ragnarok, the fabled shard that pierced the side of Jesus Christ as He hung on the Cross. It is said that whoever holds the great Spear has all power in battle, and cannot be defeated.
